Renting a car
If you are planning to explore the main attractions of Greece in a short period of time and prefer independent travel, car rental is one of the most convenient ways to get around.
Car rental also allows you to comfortably view real estate in Greece, especially along the coast, and choose the right property for purchase or investment.

Main Car Rental Conditions in Greece
Conditions may vary depending on the rental company, but the following requirements are most common:
- Driver’s age — from 21–23 years old (in some cases, an additional fee may apply for drivers under 25)
- Driving experience — from 1 year
- Fuel — as a rule, the “full-to-full” policy applies
- Fines and traffic violations — are paid by the renter
Insurance
The rental price usually includes basic insurance (CDW), which covers damage to the vehicle subject to a certain deductible.
Additional insurance packages may also be offered to reduce or fully eliminate the renter’s liability.
Rental Period
The minimum car rental period in Greece is usually 1 day.
Discounts are often available for longer rental periods.
Use of the vehicle beyond the agreed rental period may be charged additionally.
Second Driver
If you plan to drive the car together with another driver, their personal details must be added to the rental agreement in advance.
As a rule, this is an additional paid service.
Additional Options
For trips with children, you can rent:
- a child seat
- a booster seat
These services are usually provided for an additional fee.
